Two officials from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in Batangas City were arrested in an entrapment operation, led by Presidential Anti-Corruption Commissioner Greco Belgica, with Executive Director Eduardo Bringas, and in partnership with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on October 18, 2018.Through several phone calls, the accused were able to come up with a negotiated amount of P900,000. From which, only P100,000 will be issued an official receipt, while the remaining P800,000 would be given to the BIR employees in their office in Batangas City “in cash.”The two arrested BIR personnel were charged with cases in violation of Article 210 of the Revised Penal Code and Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees for an attempted extortion from Batangas City Laboratory Incorporated, a privately owned firm.The two BIR personnel were brought to the NBI Office in Manila where they were booked, fingerprinted, and photographed.#PACC #GovPH 🇵🇭#TruthAndJustice ⚖ #ParaSaBayan ✊
