The Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), together with the Special Task Force of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) conducted an entrapment operation after receiving information about an extortion activity by certain officials from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
These BIR employees allegedly harassed and demanded a restaurant owner for P600,000 after claiming the restaurant owes P1.2M in taxes.
The entrapment operation resulted to the arrest of Arturo Buniol, Gary Atanacio, and Edgardo Javier of the BIR’s Regional Investigation Division.
