
In cooperation with the Fugitive Search Unit of the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation (FSU-BID) and the International Cooperation of Beijing’s Central Commission for Discipline and Inspection (CCDI), a Chinese fugitive was apprehended and turned over to the Chinese government on January 16, 2019.
Mr. Xie Haojie, a former Chinese government official who allegedly embezzled public funds equivalent to P11 billion was arrested by Philippine authorities in Pasay City.
Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said Xie fled from China sometime in March last year and has been hiding from authorities in the Philippines for nearly 10 months.
